Overview

Arguably the most famous car maker on the planet, Lamborghini cars are some of the fastest and most stylish cars in existence. The only flaw these cars have are the price tag. They are so expensive that it's somewhat unlikely that you'll ever see one driving next to on the highway. The guy who started the company, Ferruccio Lamborghini had made a career working with engines before he actually started the Lamborghini company.

He eventually became a wealthy man not by selling cars but by selling reconfigured military equipment during World War II. Than a few years later, he expanded his business by selling air conditioners and heaters. Lamborghini was a wealthy man so naturally he could afford the best sports cars on the market, and that's exactly what he did. But after driving around in his Ferrari for a while, Lamborghini realized that he could build a better sports car himself, so he decided to do just that.

He had lots of money to invest with, so he went to Sant'Agata and created an automotive manufacturing plan like no ther on the planet. To get his new business started successfully, he hired an expert engineer who worked for Ferrari in the past, his name was Giotto Bizzarrini. In 1963, the Automobili Lamborghini SpA was formed. And the company didn't waste any time releasing there new vehicle. The first Lamborghini car, named the 350GT, was released the same year the company was founded.

The company released a couple of vehicles but the one car that made Lamborghini extremely popular was the Miura. Lamborghini's tractor division started seeing its sale numbers decline so he sold a part of the company. But due to the oil crisis that Italy was dealing with during that time and low sale numbers, the company was forced to file for bankruptcy. But the owner didn't let his company end there.

Lamborghini started becoming successful again during the 80s mainly because of its most famous cars, the Countach. The car was originally released a decade earlier but the company decided to restyle it with new features. Chrysler saw the potential the company possessed and decided to acquire Lamborghini in 1987. But in the 90s, the company changed ownership twice with Volkswagen ending up being the owner in 1998. After the merger Lamborghini released a few popular vehicles including the Gallardo and the Murcielago.
